Settings

Open Settings from the sidebar. Categories are General, Account, Providers, History, Notifications, Billing, and About. Faster refresh, premium appearance, longer history, weekly digest, and advanced alerts require Power.

General

Refresh interval

How often Vale pulls usage from connected providers:

  • Free — Manual, 30 minutes, or 1 hour.
  • Power — Also 1, 5, and 10 minutes.

You can always refresh from the dashboard toolbar. If a Power-only interval is saved and you drop to Free, Vale falls back to a Free cadence.

App behavior

  • Launch on startup — Power. Start Vale when you sign in to your computer.
  • Minimize to system tray — Free. Keep running in the tray when the window is closed.

Appearance

  • Free themes — System, Light, Dark.
  • Power — Amoled theme, accent color, and Mac titlebar style (Windows style is available on Free).
  • Provider card glow — Power. Ambient glow on provider cards.

Providers

Manage connected instances, add a provider, test credentials, and enable or disable accounts. Connection methods (import, extension, manual, OAuth) are covered under Providers.

History

  • Keep raw history for (days) — Free up to 30 days; Power can keep longer retention (up to 365 days in Settings).
  • Prune Old History — Manually delete entries older than the retention period.
  • CSV export — Power. Export full usage history (all instances, all time) as CSV from Settings → History.
  • Weekly email digest — Power. Opt in to a weekly usage summary emailed to your signed-in address when Vale is open. Raw history stays on this device.

Overlay charts live on the Compare page in the sidebar — not under Settings.

Notifications

  • Enable notifications — Free. Desktop alerts for low quota/credits and connection problems (defaults: 20% remaining quota, $10 credit floor).
  • Notify on limit reset — Power. Alert when a quota or credit limit resets, including unexpected early resets.
  • Quota threshold / Credit floor — Power. Customize when low-usage alerts fire.

Account & Billing

Account holds email, display name, and delete-account. Sign-in uses Supabase Auth so provider connections can sync per account. Usage history stays in local SQLite and is not uploaded with that sync.

Plan status, trial, Payment Provider preference, invoices, and upgrade live under Billing — see Billing.
