Usage
The Usage page shows how much of each limit you used today, this week, this month, or this year, and in any earlier period you still have history for. It is on the desktop app and on Vale for Android.
Reading the page
- One row per account — its main limit, with a square for each hour (Today) or day (Week, Month, Year). Open an account to see each of its limits on the same squares.
- Totals — 100% is one full limit. A limit that refills during the period keeps adding up, so 250% means you used two and a half full limits.
- Shades — each row is shaded against its own busiest square, so you see that account's pattern. Compare accounts by their totals.
- Ran out — how many times the limit hit zero during the period.
- One hour or day — on desktop, point at a square to see that hour or day in every row; click it to keep it, and click again or press Esc to go back to the whole period.
Why a total can be low
Vale works out usage from the readings it takes each time it checks your providers. Anything it could not see is not counted, so a total is never higher than what you used, but it can be lower.
Vale was not checking
Vale checks only while it is running and online. If your computer was off, Vale was closed, or you were offline, use in that time can be missed, especially if a limit refilled before the next check. With the refresh interval set to Manual, Vale checks only when you refresh. Keep Vale in the tray and pick a refresh interval under Settings › General for the fullest totals.
The period started before you connected the account
Totals start from the first reading Vale has for that account, so the month you connected it only counts from that day.
The period is older than the history Vale keeps
Vale keeps raw readings for the number of days set in Settings › History › Keep raw history for: up to 30 days on Free and up to a year on Power. On the phone, choose how long under Settings › History. A period that reaches further back than that is only partly covered.
The sign-in expired
An account whose sign-in expired shows "Sign-in expired" under its name. Vale cannot read it until you sign in again from the Dashboard, so its totals stop at the last reading before it expired.
Where the history lives
Readings are stored on each device and are not uploaded, so the desktop app and your phone each count from their own readings and can differ slightly.
